About Us

Keenes Care is striving to become the UK’s leading independent provider of support for both children and adults. Our purpose is to deliver a high standard of accommodation and support services to children and adults in Central Bedfordshire, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Luton. Our innovative services are focused on enabling children and adults to achieve their goals through individually tailored solutions.

In relation to children, we are very passionate about supporting vulnerable children who have been affected by trauma and challenging circumstances and believe they deserve unlimited chances in life and that is the reason we never ever give up on anyone. We have created positive differences to children and adults by tailoring the service based on their individual needs. We build on relationships that demonstrate we care and are genuinely concerned about making a positive difference as we have a huge responsibility on our shoulders. We work alongside CAMHS, social services, youth justice service, youth advocates, youth offending teams and various other professionals in delivering an effective service.

A particular young person with autism, learning difficulties and complex mental health had been out of education for many years and several placement breakdowns, we were able to enroll him into gym, biking and worked in partnership with autism Bedfordshire to support him with group activities. Eventually, we worked very hard through keywork and interventions and various other strategies to support him back into education with a specialist college. Another young person had challenging behaviour and complex mental health, we never gave up on him and introduced a boxing activity, work experience in a mechanics garage and built a good relationship. He eventually went into carrying out a construction course and working towards a CSCS card.

Referral Pathway:

In relation to adults, we are passionate about reintergrating them back into society and making a positive differnce to their lives. Our team has extensive training and has worked with adults with complex mental health, challenging behaviour, complex needs, substance misuse, domestic abuse, ex-offenders 18+, including the entire criminal spectrum. We apply a person centred approach based on their individual requirements.

We have worked very closely with probation, police, community mental health teams, social workers. They may be given an order from the courts or probation which we will support service user with. We believe encouraging independent decisions boosts self-esteem and gives a sense of confidence invaluable to adults who have faced challenging life situations. We aim to empower individuals through our services, whether that is achieved with 24-hour shared, solo accommodation or floating support. Putting the individual and their needs at the heart of our services ensures our staff provide a person-centred and a customised level of help unique to us. We had a service user who was addicted to substances and and impacted his mental health as a consequence of him losing touch with his family and friends and was constantly being arrested to feed his addiction. Therefore, we carried out interventions and referred him to Pathway to recovery where we were able to facilitate the correct medication, which led him to recover from the misuse of substances. The result was that he made a full recovery and was not reliant on drugs and managed to find him a construction course and a CSCS card. He started working a few days a week and he is now working full-time and has made amends with his family, friends and children and now lives a healthy and wholesome life.
